After years of efforts by Birch Point residents and, with the help of the Town Board, after months of construction, the BPSD is up and running. All residences able to connect are now connected. The treatment facility is operational and only the finishing touches remain. The system utilizes a Septic Tank Effluent Pump (STEP) point of use system. The STEP tanks send only effluent to the Micro-Bicrobics FAST system which treats the effluent. There are multiple disposal fields at the treatment site, each of which is utilized on a randomized basis. The cost of the construction and operation of the system has been paid by the residents who have connected to the system. Through the efforts of many, eighty-one percent of the system was funded by grant funds.
