Office Staff Duties
The Town Treasurer is responsible for managing the town’s money, acting as the chief financial officer by receiving, safeguarding, and disbursing funds, keeping detailed records, preparing financial reports for the town board, and ensuring compliance with state statutes, essentially handling all things money-related for the township. Further supported by Minnesota Statute § 367.16.
The Town Clerk is responsible for directing all activities of the office of the Town Clerk. Work responsibilities include the preparation and maintenance of all Board records and other official Township documents, supervision of elections within the Town, issuance of various licenses and permits, validating and recording various documents and vital statistics, maintaining cemetery records, and accounts for all public monies received. Further supported by Minnesota Statute § 367.11.
The Town Deputy Clerk is responsible for supporting the Town Clerk by handling vital records, licenses, managing official documents (minutes, ordinances, resolutions), assisting the public at the front desk, processing payments, helping with elections, rentals of the Community Center and providing administrative support, essentially acting as the Clerk’s assistant and backup for all administrative, clerical, and sometimes basic financial/bookkeeping functions, ensuring smooth town operations and legal compliance. Further supported by Minnesota Statute § 367.12.
